We don’t want it to happen but it does, so is the nature of the beast!
The most important thing (after dealing with injuries etc.) is to ensure you have the best evidence possible, such as CCTV, photographs and witnesses where possible (beware snakes in the grass).
Rules:
- Stay Calm
- DO NOT ADMIT LIABILITY
- Be safe
You must report the RTA within 24 hours to the Police on ‘101’ for no-emergency, otherwise of course ‘999’, but you must also report the incident to the licensing department at Cornwall Council.
Here you will find a convenient ‘screen fillable’ accident report form to download for general use, and here is the form that Licensing require from you *(it is best to download these files then open them in Acrobat Reader to fill them in and print)*.
It may be wise to consider using a claim management company such as Kindertons, who can deal with the whole thing and provide a replacement temporary vehicle as well.
