Airport Taxi Permit Scheme

If you currently hold a Taxi Permit to use the Bus Bay and Car Parks at Newquay Airport to pick up and drop off, the scheme is going to be changing slightly from the existing arrangement.

Here is the official response from the Airport Operations Manager:

“Positively we will be continuing the taxi permit scheme going forward but need to make some amendments in the current arrangements as follows;

1. Taxi Permit – Access to the Bus Lane

The current scheme is oversubscribed and has led two issues (1) number of H & S concerns being raised with so many vehicles using the restricted area (2) a review of the actual use > 30 minutes we’ve actually not generated any income either.

We have therefore decided to limit the number of permits in to this area and increase the price to reflect the exclusive access this gives to non-based operators, a unique arrangement not in place at another UK airport.

Limited to 30 permits and existing permit holders will be given first refusal

£100 per annum inclusive VAT

2. Taxi Permit – Access to East/West Car Park

We will offer a new permit allowing access for up to 1 hour each time in East and West Car Parks.

Limited to 100 permits

£36 per annum inclusive VAT

With the launch of Car Park 3 we have generated additional capacity for short term / pick up / drop off in both car parks

3. Any user can still take advantage of 30 minutes free parking with no permit required

To help with the transition we will keep all existing permits live until 31/07/19 but will then wipe the Bus Lane database clean and restart with the valid permits effective 01/08/19.

I do hope this clarifies the current position and if you can coordinate any queries I can come back to you in one email.”

I am pleased to say that the bus lane scheme was originally pitched at £100 + VAT, but with some negotiation it has been agreed at £100 INC VAT, which equates to a monthly cost of £8.33. If you have any queries or comments on the new scheme, please submit them here, I will then refer them to the Airport Operations Manager as one email communication, as he has requested above. We are fortunate to have this scheme available to us, so let’s please respect it.
