Zero Tolerance against abuse towards taxi drivers campaign

Success, maybe!

Well it seems that this finally got somewhere! The Council, after we achieved some support from the local Police Sgt, appear to have now adopted this into their licensing policy.

That doesn’t mean they won’t come  gunning for us in the event of a complaint from the public, but at least it gives us a structured basis to work from in order to defend ourselves, and try and act properly to begin with! Get the leaflet…

Previously…

So the Council officers say the right things, and the Police representatives say the right things – but nothing actually happens, and nothing actually changes, and no one seems bothered…

Any hoo, this is what happened:

Cornwall Council Policy:

The Council has it’s own ‘Zero Tolerance Initiative’ for protecting it’s staff against physical and verbal abuse, and makes an interesting read, especially the part that says “Non-physical assault is – ‘the use of inappropriate words (including, but not exclusively, verbal/written/social media) or behaviour causing alarm, distress and/or constituting harassment’”. Take a look:

Are we not entitled to have the same policy?

Here is a suggested sign for your car perhaps (it prints in A4 size and you can cut in to two signs) – see here
